kind of like looking at the sun. looking through the top probe hole, blazing yellow/red catalytic element doing its thing. never any chimney smoke when it is functioning, just a heatwave. this is on my 1995 Seneca.

I can't look down my liner, as it's not straight up and my stove is rear-vented. I think my cat is a little more forward, where I couldn't see it even if I had the stove top-vented.

mine is rear vented as well. my cat is under the removable top, so i can peek in through the temp probe hole. like a keyhole view.

Oh, without looking closely I thought that was looking down the chimney from the roof. ;lol

Unfortunately my Cat is fully exposed to the flames. Need to figure out some of those flame guards so many of you speak about on this forum. But it’s nice to see it working

Just like the catalytic converter in your car, just different substrate.

Yeah, you don't want flames hitting the exposed face of the cat..it will "cup" the face. Just cut the air a bit after burning in the new load, let the flames die down...then close the bypass a couple minutes later.
