I have an old Upland 207 wood stove that leaks a bit of smoke from under the top panel. Is there any special technique to replace the top gasket?

I found this manual: https://www.hearth.com/images/uploads/207.pdf

I was thinking of just unscrewing the finneals and lifting off the top panel. Has anyone done this before?

Thanks,
John
the stove is manufactured in several pieces and is sealed with stove cement, gaskets are only used on the doors
