My nephew is interested in installing a wood stove in a small addition (basically it's the old back porch he converted into an additional interior room:. The concern is putting in a chimney through the roof of his one story addition that would have, at best, 8' of clearance from the 2nd story portion of the house. He wonders if he could run the chimney up along the exterior of his 2nd floor until he achieves clearance. He has a 2nd option of putting the wood stove in his dining room. There he has access to his dual stack chimney (one side already used for his oil furnace) but we're thinking that will involve running a liner up two stories and the dining room isn't the best option aesthetically. Of course, he'll take that route if that his is best, safe option.

Thanks,

Carolyn
