It's mediocre just like American Elm, but much easier to split. I would keep it.

Is it really Chinese elm? Or Siberian elm? Lots of folks call it Chinese elm when it isn't.

I'm just going off of what the tree cutter told me. I looked up pics of it, it looked like he was right.

I'd keep it and burn it. It's free wood, ok btu's, and it's free wood. Should work well in shoulder seasons or mixing with hardwoods, right?

Dries out in about a year css that is - good shoulder season or later. In my book better than Box Elder or Silver maple although I do not turn down either of those. Any thing in deciduous types of wood below Silver maple on the btu charts I can afford to pass by as I have enough just from my own lot. I also stay away from conifers as again have a bunch of my own so no sense chasing that.

Well the tree is down. I have a pile of brush about 15' X 10' X 15' and a 12' X 7' X 4' trailer full of cut to length wood headed to my dad's pile right now. With another trailer load and a half on the ground still. We'll get it C/S/S in the near future to dry this wet stuff out. The stump is still standing about 8 feet high with a steady flow of sap dripping from it.
