Woke up to a balmy 25° here this morning with some wood heat chores in front of me.
About a quarter cord of birch gifted to me from a neighbor when they had some tree work. All of it cut about 2-3 inches too long by the tree service. I had split it right after I got it, as most of us know, birch rots fast, and it was already starting.
So, I got out the 12" chop saw, and was able to get 90% cut to my preferred 15.75". The other 10% got the electric chainsaw treatment. That Aldi chainsaw comes in handy, and got it for about $20 on sale earlier this year.
About 3 banana boxes of cut-offs.
Came in, and it's just after 10. A good start.
Next, clean the old gasket material out of the folks VC Resolute doors, and apply the new gaskets to the doors, lid, and socket top. Also, clean the old stove pipe for reinstalling. It's still in fine shape, and the stove shop wanted over $150 for replacement.
But first, clean some ashes out of the stove. Getting pretty full.
Then, some yeast pancakes for Sunday lunch.
