Could not love my Harman more!

Temps outside have been more than cold (for us) but temps inside have been warm. Yes, when we get below 20, I have to burn some oil for a bit in the morning and again in the evening, to keep things on track for Madame DeFarge - but on the whole, our Accentra FS has been keeping us warm all by its lonesome. Yesterday, I woke up to about 16 outside and 71 inside, Could not be happier.

P.S.: Have been burning FSUs all season and love them this year, and have burned only about 35 gallons of oil for heat, in what has been a very cold winter around here.

Love our Harman p61a! Burned through about 3 and a half tons. Used no oil for heating.

Ah yes! Going into my fifth ton but the XXV is doing the job. Run the oil burner for about 15 minutes every morning and the Harman takes care of the rest of the day.

I haven't burned any oil either, but have just about 20 bags left out of 8 tons of Curran's. I figured that the eight would get me through to the end, but now I see that won't be true. Have had many many nights way below zero with very brisk arctic winds. Some nights were -25 to -30 actual. My Harmon burned 5 bags in a 24 hour day on those days. Still heating the house to 72 during the day and 68 at night. Only on the coldest mornings were the main floor temperatures at 68 (set for 72 by 5:30 a.m.). Nice to have at half the cost of fossil.

We have Oil furnace for baseboard heat and Hot water here North of Phila.
that said, Ironically, it was 180 days ago[September 5th] when we filled the oil tank. 275 gallon tank.
we have used 180 gallons of oil for 6 months for 24/7 Domestic Hot water...Gallon a day. For the next 6 month period, April thru October with Municipal water coming into the furnace at 55-70 degrees instead of 40 degrees now, Our hot water use will be half gallon day [90 gallons give or take].. So, looks like just about 1 tank of Oil a year since using our Harman P61A...
Prior to getting a pellet stove, our Oil bill averaged over 1700.00 yr for heat/hot water...
Will use 3 tons of Stove Chows for heat this year... 229.00 ton. soooooo, decent savings for the 1st year of Alternate heat...
Stove or no stove, Everyone pays for Hot water in some capacity or another.

No oil here either. 'Ole sparky has chewed through 4.5 ton so far but well worth it.

Used zero oil here for heat. Have had temps to -15 this winter with many below 0 and single digit nights and stove still keeping my house 70-75F. Not a Harman but this thing will keep pace with any comparable btu rated harman out there - reliably keeping me toasty through a winter like this without burning oil is impressive for any pellet stove imo. The pellets I'm burning this season are somersets, fsu, okanagan, black hills heat, la crete, and barefoot.

loving ours also. Heating 1800 square two floors from one corner of the living room to the end of her walk in closet.
And when she turns it down I can feel the difference within minutes.

We also love our Harman. For 6 years our Harman is still going strong with no problems and over 18 tons burned.

Why you need oil? 20 degrees should be nothing for a good pellet stove to handle. Below 20 is when my st croix is just starting to flex its muscles. You should be able to crank that stove up and be sweating in your house if the stove is the proper size for your sq footage.

Probably because Madame DeFarge insisted on the Accentra (which I love) which is a bit undersized for our layout. When temps really dip, the far reaches of the house get chilly after the second or third day in the teens and a bit of oil brings it all back to where it should be. Besides - my 17 year old daughter is ALWAYS cold. Got to keep the ladies happy.

Wonder how many Husbands wanted BTU'S and ease of Maintenance but lost out to the Mrs who wanted flair & fancey looking?
I know my wife wanted the XXV Porcelian[real beauty] stove but actually talked her out of it for the P61A..Hopper size, huge Ash pan, ease of maint, higher BTU's etc.. she's happy now with the killer heat..besides, She knows I'm the one who will fill, clean, and maintaine it.

We put on a slate scene that makes no sense and half a brushed stainless trim kit to give it a little sparkle. She seems happy, camps out next to it knitting about 6 or 7 hours a day. So at that rate I guess any stove would do! All I know is its easy to service.

part of Her deal here was the Brushed trim kit and Lighthouse slate scene...extra 300.00 bucks I think..
Still, the P61A was the best choice.... a 3 yr old could clean if shown a few times..

Our P43 heats just over 1100 square feet on its own. Only the attic uses electric heat. Transferring over to gas for backup next year but the last three seasons only our Harman has been used to heat our home and it has done its job very well! Best investment ever and this thing always shocks visitors who know nothing about pellet stoves. Hear "that thing is warm and it is your only heat? Wow!" Love my Harman!

Happy wife happy life! With only 1000 sqft to heat btu was not a concern it was more about finding something that worked in our space and budget. The sugar coated XXV caught her eye and I resisted at first due to price but in the end it meets both our criteria. She loves the looks, ease of use and heat, I like the toys I can purchase with with my much lower heating budget. Win win.
