Yes that's right. I thought I was responding to someone who suggested adding a new drain/trap for the dishwasher.
I think your right, a poster added a trap for his dishwasher...but the original question was could you just take a dish washer drain hose and put it into a laundry sink - which would be fine.

A drain is a drain. It should be fine. My only concern would be a clog not noticed because you might not go down into the basement as often as you look at the kitchen sink.

I like having a skinny cabinet for cookie sheets and similar. other wise they always get buried under other implements. Course I just a guy what do I know about kitchens.
We used to have a skinny cabinet for cookie sheets in the old house but they got so jammed and the cats would jump 6 ft in the air from all the noise getting them out. 😄

The wife has this stand-up organizer for baking pans which is quite nice as it divides them up based on size. She has one for the lids and one for the skillets. It's all in the cabinets under the island. She is an organizer for sure.
Is there a way to extend your plumbing system to the area under the dishwasher? I installed mine to go down through the floor and hook directly to 1 1/2 PVC via one of the adapters mentioned above. I then put a trap in before it enters a 2 inch line that catches my washing machine. I also just ran a separate supply line off of the hot water to the area behind the dishwasher. It was easer than going behind a corner cabinet
We do have a long 8 foot pipe that goes from sink to the main drain stack which is about 2 ft to the left of the dishwasher. I could plumb it into there. You can see the long horizontal pipe. The dishwasher is just above the black reverse osmosis tank on that shelf.
Now if that was me i would have removed the cabinet by the sink and moved it over enough to fit in the dishwasher and then purchase a new upper and lower to finish off the space. That is one of the most common cabinet designs out their.. Then put the butcher block top on the new cabinets.. On a side note with the unit not being in a cabinet and screwed to the counter top how are you going to keep it from tipping over every time you open the door?
I had this thought but the floor is not finished under the cabinets and the cabinets are glued and screwed to the floor. This would be a huge project and a costly one as these cabinets were ordered from a local kitchen shop and they are custom. They wanted $400 for a 9" matching cabinet. Ouch
