Hi,

I have a drolet Eco 65 with outside air kit installed in basement. It has run fine for 3 years, with the exception of having to replace the blower/fan last year, which I did. I cleaned the chimney and stove out for this year and so far have burned 8 bags of pellets.

Over the weekend, I had it set on 4 (of 6) heat setting and it has been running great so far this year. When I turned it down to setting 2 (of 6) from 4, after about ten minutes it shut down (moves from manual to OFF position) without my touching it. The first time I didn't pay much attention to it. Now last night I tried starting it on setting 2 again, and it fires up great but after about a half hour, it shut down again.

Both times this happened, it never had an error message, not even an "E" message. However, after trying to pinpoint the problem, i ran another 40 pounds of pellets in it on "4" last night and it ran until empty, and the "E" message was on it this morning (which should happen).

I called Drolet this morning and the guy said that is impossible, I must have had it on thermastat mode. I have never used thermastat mode so I knew that was the not possible. He suggested I tried to PILOT ON and see if it recreates the problem at low setting. I am going to try that tonight.

Anyone have any suggestions because without an error code, it is not really making sense to me or Drolet?

Thanks!

UPDATE:
I ran it again today on setting 4 and now it lost all power and i had to unplug it and plug it back in to get blower to at least blow smoke out of it.

Did you have a power failure for a split second?
Hi. No it just basically shut down at first on its own then tonight it just turned off altogether. Then I unplugged it and plugged back in and it came back on. Now i'm terrified to use it because it loses power at any time and the control guage isn't lit up.

Well today it is fixed. Hope this can help someone. Apparently there is a phone line cord that runs from motherboard to side panel display. That can get dirty/dusty so unplug both ends of cord and clean connections with rubbing alcohol on q tip. Drolet said it may have vibrated loose or got dirt on connection. The q tip was quite dirty afterwards. Now it works. Yah!
