Anyone tell me how much much your electric bill went up with just using your pellet stove? Average.
Is that 300 watts including the ignitor? If so, your usage would be a lot less, since the ignitor runs for a few minutes only on startup.Running full bore it's only drawing 300watts my Harmon XXV. So in 10 hours A 300-watt item used for 5 minutes per day will only consume 25-watt hours per day. 25x.06=$1.50 per day.
It's after Igniter has done it's job and not running. I have Kill A Watt. It's 450w when starting. When on Battery Power I turn down the Fan to half.Is that 300 watts including the ignitor? If so, your usage would be a lot less, since the igniter runs for a few minutes only on startup.
Dan...... You need to change your font color, it's almost unreadable when running the forum in dark modeA couple of things to consider on the increase in your electric bill.
1) without the stove running, you would be using your furnace/boiler/baseboards.
all requiring electricity.
2) you are also using more lights.
So your higher bill is not "just" because of the pellet stove..
It would have been a little higher without it, regardless.

You Canadians really get zapped (pun intended) for electric power. My big drawback with my biomass burner is it drops the RH in the house to a point where I have to supplement the RH with a humidifier and because we have well water with a high dissolved calcium content, I have to purchase bottled water for it and it does get expensive. Been to the grocery when it's on sale in 2.5 gallon containers and loaded a shopping cart with them. I get funny looks with a cart loaded down with nothing but bottled water. My hydro bill went drastically down since i do not have to run the blowers on the furnace or dehumidifiers in the house anymore. I save money by running the pellet stove. What i have saved over the last 4 years i could have purchased a brand new stove easily and had change left over to hire someone to install..LOL
We shut our dehumidifier off as well. I've only ran the stove 3 times so far for a couple hours each, and I've noticed there's a lot less water in the bucket every day, so it's about time to unplug it for the winter.Mine running 24/7 would be about $13 a month. Seems to be about a wash because during heating season I’m running the basement dehumidifier little to none. I don’t consider the igniter because when the stove is running constantly, the igniter only gets used once every week or two after cleaning.

So running the 2 stoves, uses, say, 10-20 bucks more. The highest electric bill I had this summer, with the mini-split system going was <$80
My mid and late winter electric bills usually run $90-100 but can go up to $110.
