Ouch! $77 a pair. That's more than my homemade gate cost. It's not fancy, but works well.

I don't have a big box store near me, so I buy at the local hardware or lumber store. Ace had the Everbilt spring, but it was $18 vs $2 for my fix. I was concerned the Everbilt spring would have been too strong. Our gate is fairly light. The cheap spring is just right for tension and price.

You cannot go wrong with your fix since it works! I like inexpensive fixes. :-)
