Finally got some rain

Basically no rain in June. So far July has been the opposite. 3/4" a couple days ago and 1" last night. Trouble is, we now have no power. Trees downed over a huge area; many counties. That also means lines down. Might be Sunday before we have power again. Well, the generator seems to get a workout at least once per year.

'Tis the season, I guess.
Huge area mean utilities' resources stretched.
Hopefully, they didn't send any help to other states, like Ohio or WV.

I am not sure if your generator can run it but I have an extra window ac unit if you want to borrow it Dennis The heat is ridiculous right now.

Thanks Pete. The generator has been going all day and we are nice and cool too. It surely is nice to be prepared.

Glad you're gettin a little rain Dennis, bummer about the power though. We got about 2/100ths monday, & that's been it for a long time here. Soil is popcorn dry, non irrigated crops are near done or done. Farmers & gardeners over here are hurtin bad. On the bright side, the firewood's dryin real fast. Glad you're stayin cool. Think Fall! Glad you got rain. Saw the news flash last night for Michigan, & looked at the radar in your area, lost of lighting too. It looked Nasty on radar !
Being prepared to live "off the grid" feels good, eh?
Hope all your trees are still standing.
Phone lines seem to be working OK They've buried almost all of our ph lines in the past few years.
Seems to be more costly to bury power lines, buried AC needs larger wire, heavy insulation, lots of deep ditches & conduit.
Was over $2k to have mine put under ground & only 150 feet of 220V & by code had to be 4' deep.

Man we could use more rain today !! I am sweating my self to death under the car today I can only work for 20 minutes or so at a time then I have to go cool off ! Heat index of 109 F actual temp 94 man its hot

A C, the rain usually misses us but we "lucked out." Too bad the wind had to come with it. Still out of power.

Sorry to hear you're out of power Dennis, but glad you're prepared.
I really feel for folks downstate and elsewhere having to deal with even worse than us.
I've had the air on for the last couple days, and forecast is calling for slightly less heat/humidity the next couple/3 days. Maybe the air can get kicked off.
Rain due tonight and tomorrow should help as long as the temps stay down.
I keep making a trip to the stacks, thinking I can do a little work, but Bev yells at me to get back in the air. No problemo.

Still no rain to speak of here. It's pretty much to late for a good harvest. The corn around my house will probably be mowed down. Hope they get your power back on soon.

Cooler today. Power came back on.....power went back off. Generator still running. I'm heading out to do a bike ride.
