Hey All,

I am doing some initial research into putting a fireplace insert on the main level of my house. Currently I am trying to get all my clearances figured out. The only one I have a question on is hearth clearance 16" infront of insert. Is that from the stove part or from the blower part? I ask because the insert in I am looking at is the Drolet 1400 and the blower sticks out in front of the stove.

Thanks

As I understand it, the clearance has been revised to 18 inches (although some manufacturer info. still says 16 inches) and it is from the insert door.

+1 on from the insert door. You'll notice once you burn how important these clearances are. The hearth right under my blower fan is cool to the touch. Move 16" out an the tile heats up considerably.
