First burn tonight

Temps are dropping into the forties tonight so I will be doing my first non break in fire tonight when I get home. Anyone else in southeast planning first burn today or already had one?

It was 75 in here yesterday, down to 68 now. After 40 last night, barely breaking 50 now, and 30s tonight with a breeze, it appears I may have to torch a short load tonight. Hmmm, lessee....Black Cherry sounds (and smells) pretty good.

Well, it was down in the 30s here in south east TN this morning and forecast to be lower in the am. I was out about all day but I do believe there will be a fire in the Jotul tonight.

Burning as low as I can without smoking up the glass. I still have to open the windows, even with my 12 foot ceilings. I bought the Kozy Heat unit late last spring, so I do not have much experience with it yet. It certainly seems to be working well. Never thought I would say it, but i am actually looking forward to the -25F temperatures.

I'll have a small fire tonight. Just swept out the chimney today and was very pleased that just a little bit of flaky stuff came out after 4 months of burning last year. Been itching to burn.

I burned last night and tonight, got a little to warm in here last night. We were sweating and swatting mosquitoes 2 days ago, now we're working in bibs and gloves today. Iowa weather

It was just 45 last night at 6pm but I couldn't stand it, I did light up the little Waterford for the first burn of the season. Let it run for a couple hours and shut it down, before I got roasted out of the house. I do love to burn a wood stove.

It was just 45 last night at 6pm but I couldn't stand it, I did light up the little Waterford for the first burn of the season. Let it run for a couple hours and shut it down, before I got roasted out of the house. I do love to burn a wood stove.

I light a fire and got the cat up to temp and let it go for a few hours low and slow. I will prob do the same tonight.

Had our first fire of the season last night. High temp of 45 with driving rains yesterday and a very chilly night. No stove or insert here, though...just the open masonry fireplace. I know...I know.

Tried the upside down fire technique yesterday, however. I was amazed at how well it worked and how long the fire went without needing any attention or added wood!

In coastal Washington, there really isn't much of a non-burn season. Even in August, there are days when it's nice to light the stove.

Those Blaze King stoves sound awesom. That's a good looking stove I like the color. I was not able to find a local dealer down hear so I went with the Buck.

Being new to all this, I'm not familiar with the Buck. Can you post a photo?

That Leyden is the first stove I looked at. The dealer steered me toward the Cape Cod but Webby's comments turned me off to it. That plus the really crappy way Lopi responded to my concerns. But I know they make some good stoves. I like the top loading option on that guy and it looks really nice fired up like that.
