I was at Lowe's today and they had Greene Team pellets. The price I thought was kind of high at $5.49 per bag. I did have a coupon for $10.00 of a $50.00 purchase. So I bought ten bags, bringing the price down to $4.49 a bag. I did attach a picture to prove it happened. (I know the rules!). Any experience with these?

Pretty decent pellet. We got all gaga over em because they were at a reasonable price. Now that the box store is charging a premium many have't splurged. For what Lowes is getting for them. I can usually get something a bit cleaner burning at the pellet house for about the same dime. My only complaint with the GT's is they are a bit ashy compared to other pellets in that price range. Heat rivals the others.

Most sane people aren't willing to spend the 274 a ton for these that Lowes has them listed for. Not when 280 buys you a ton of vermonts around here.

Greene Teams are still at $4.32 at my local Lowes and they burn great in my stove. A little ashy but great heat. Robs e-mails let me know when to head out and refill my stash.

When you paid $209/ton 18 months ago and now they are charging $275/ton, what changed? I know when I am having a stupid attack when I see sh-- like this.
I can git a ton of Barefoots for dat! I ain't no stupit.

I bought a couple bags to try out a week ago, and they burned pretty good for the most part, but lots of fly ash.......so at that price I would just buy barefoots, or vermonts.....

Ya, I was paying $4.20 a bag last year with coupons so about $215/ton with cost of coups. Would by about 30 at a time as that is all I could fit in the car and checkout 3 times. I would buy 20 $10 off $50 coupons at a time so the price of the coupon was like $1 each.

Im not sure I want to $4.49/bag. Comes out to $224.5/ton before cost of coupons. Is it worth it at that price? I have to figure out what to stock up on.

Next door to me they sell Harmans for $309/ton. When I called at the end of the season last year they wanted $7.99/bag which is $400/ton.

Last year I got some of my last pellets at TSC. They were the MWPs for $4.69/bag or $224.5/ton ($4.49/bag) and they were great, just not close enough. Good pellets though.
I just called and they are switching to TSC prand so no idea what they are, but they still have MWPs for $234.5/ton or what I paid per bag last year. Going to go buy a ton on the way home, but will have dont think I can fit more than 30 bags so will have to pick up the rest tmrw. Hope to get 3 tons of them.

Now just need to figure out how to install a CAI/OAK.

Well Im not sure what to do. I dont want to annoy everyone with a new posting and cant post in the pellet price section so I will ask here as I mostly ran the GTs last year.
So these are my choices:

Get the Grean Teams from lowes for $230/ton. Go by lowes on my way home every day and only a few miles from house so no big deal...

Or get the MWPs for $234/ton but would have to drive 30+ miles home with 1000lbs of pellets in my car and do this 6 times.

I can get Hammers for $299/ton or Curran for $269/ton at the store next door to my house making the 6 trips much more convienient than TCS.

Or this place is like an hour from my house so add in the cost to rent a uhaul:

I have a Hamen accentra insert.

Please spoon feed me. What should I get?
TIA.

The GT's are the best deal there. A little more ash than I'd like, but otherwise a good, solid pellet. Stay away from the Currans if they're the hardwood version....yuck. $299 would be WAY too much for me to pay for Hamers. Never burned the MWP, so no comment.

Do the UPC check for the TSC pellets, they might be MWP. There is another thread some where on here that addresses that.

Go for the GTs at Lowes - very good chance this is the last year you'll see them at that price. I got them for $188/ton last year and this year all of the Lowes around me are charging $270/ton because the bag now has the word 'platinum' on there. I bought my Hamers for less than that this year... so I've moved on to some Energex for much less than the $270/ton. However, I wouldn't plan on them being there all winter long for you to swing by on the way home from work every few days - I'd wrap up those by the ton for the $230 price. Also - pay the $65 flat delivery fee - it will work out to be much less than you renting a U-Haul, plus gas and your time.

Good luck!

Ya, I wish I was paying the $4.20/bag I could get them for last year. The MWPs are better. Maybe comparable on ash but slightly better burn. What do I know though...this is my second year.

Well I know they have some MWPs. The TSCs may also be MWPs, IDK. If I get there I can try to look ad the UPCs or you mean with my phone? IDK how to do that. Will let you know what I find.

$188 is amazing for GTs. I liked them, but they are ashy and the MWPs were better. I only got the MWPs once Lowes was out of GTs as there is no TSC nearby. But I drive by one on the way home now. Even thou it will suck driving home in my mazdaspeed6 w/ 1000lbs of pellets for 40 miles (six times to get 3 tons) I think it will be worth it.
The $230 price on the GTs is with me using a coupon for every 10 bags bought. So I have to check out 3 times each trip to use 3 separate $10 off $50 coupons. So I cant do delivery and they would not be able to deliver up my driveway anyways. I think I will just do the 6 trips to TSC.
But those that are getting them from lowes, make sure to get your coupons...10% off can be used on tons or $10 off $50 for 10 bags of GTs.
THANKS AGAIN!

Aviator79-Where are you getting these coupons from?

How did I not know about this...I spend serious money there on a regular basis... Thank you very much!!!

For the OP- I am testing these as we speak. Versus Green Supreme- they are burning 10 degrees hotter on low (2/2), 19 degrees more on medium (5/5) and 16 degrees more on high (9/9)! Maybe more on high but I am going to melt if it gets any warmer in here so I'm aborting the mission. I can't comment much on ash yet since I haven't shut it off to clean since I started the bag, but they definitely put out plenty of heat. So I'd say at the price you're paying ($4.49 a bag) it's a pretty good deal.

I was hoarding those coupons and using them last year.. If you move or friends change address they are often in the welcome packets from USPS as well. When friends move and don't use them I always try and snag them!

This is where I get mine. I dont like it as the person is makeing tons of money of these but it has saved me hundred of dollars so whatever. I have never had an issue. He also normally send out a coupon code for 20% off his prices here and there...but not one today so far.
mycheapcoupons.com
First time I bought was on ebay and this is the same person.
They dont work online but as I said ive never had an issue in the store.

I tired a handful of bags last year. I didnt think they were bad. The bags had less dust than green label ligs and arguably a similar amount of heat, but higher ash. These seemed to have higher ash than the cheat rivers I also tried last year. I visually quantified the ash after a full cleaning and burning the same brand for 3-4 days in a row.

I also managed to get these for around 3.79 a bag via a coupon at the time. I believe they are 4.89 in my area right now.
