Appears there are a lot of Hampton HI300 owners and am wondering where I may be able to order a replacement door gasket. I bought the insert used and although it does not appear too bad I want to start fresh. Went online to a Regency/Hampton parts store and saw it foe $83. Ouch!! I believe it takes a 7/8 inch gasket and was really shocked at this price. Even half that price seems high to me. Yep, I am a newbie and Thanks

That is pretty pricey. If the gasket looks good and passes the dollar bill test I would not touch it. In the meantime you will need to get the factory spec for the gasket so that the replacement, when it happens, matches density, etc..

Thanks. I found another for $51 with the adhesive included. Of course I screwed up and already removed the old gasket as it appeared compressed at the latch area but when I got it out and cleaned it up it appeared much better. Anyway I think I will replace it and I did look on amazon. I saw Rutland has one that is a fiberglass based gasket. Are they all fiberglass and what about those darn fiberglass fibers flying about the house when I open and close the door?? Am I knit picking or is this a concern??

They're all fiberglass. Not a concern in my experience.

Thanks again. In your experience is there a difference between rounded and oval? Won't they all become somewhat rounded and/or flattened a bit over time. Manual calls for high density oval. Oval means over kill to me at $83

Haven't tried that. I've had the most predictable results matching factory specs. My concern with using round gasket instead would be that it would compress more at the hinge side or that it wouldn't latch properly. This is just speculation though on my part. Oval gasket is not common which may be why the high cost?
