I have the manual and it says 6" to 3/4" trim from side of insert body. Now seems that the cast surround covers the 6" but I have some wood trim I was going to put back up. 1to 2" thick.

I think its safe but will it pass inspection?

No. It will not pass inspection. You are exceeding the 3/4" specification.

Ya, I put some 3/4" floorboards up so I would pass inspections
