I have a very well maintained P61a. This Tuesday my ESP died. $88 later I had it back up and running. Today I came home to 3 blinks again (ESP failure)! I reset it and it's running again but why would it do that?
From time to time I get 3 blinks. I just unplug it for a few seconds and that usually takes care of it. Ii figure that it's just some glitch or burn variable that causes it.
I'm not sure why, but I only get a year or two out of them. I just replaced mine on Tuesday night at 1 am. I clean them when I clean the stove and remove them when I run a brush through the flue.
Seems to be the strategy. I've reset it and got the same thing again just the other day. My stove works REALLY hard all winter so I guess it's not a giant surprise it needs a reset now and then.
I find that it can be a poor connection where the ESP wire plugs into the circuit board. Unplug it and plug it back in with the stove off and unplugged of course!
