My Harman isn't putting out much heat. The ESP light is on (3 blinks) and the fan is now on full speed. Even if I move the knob it remains on full speed. This is a repeat of yesterday. If I turn it off and unplug it, it clears the code. It ran most of yesterday on 1, it turned it up to 4 last night and this morning, it was blinking again. Again putting out minimum heat. I'm going to replace it today any way. Just checking to see if it's the right solution based on symptoms.

Hello
If you cannot change the fan speed with the knob on the circuit board that is either a bad variable speed fan or a bad circuit board. Still good to change the ESP probe first which is the cheapest fix but save the old one because it may still be good. If you had the Harman DDM Diagnostic Display monitor, you can plug that into the circuit board connector and it will display the temperature that the ESP probe is currently reading. Hope this helps.

Well,I just got to fed up with it and bought a new one. You don't want to know how much it cost. 🤮

Which component did you buy most recently? Esp? Board? Convection Fan?

Did you get your Enviro Max?

I was going to try setting up room temp, but the temps are going into the 50s and 60s starting tomorrow, so it would be a waste of time. I did see it start with the ignitor which I found interesting. It pushes all the ash out of the burn pot and ignites a big pile of pellets. Been running since 10 am yesterday.

When did you install an igniter? I missed that. You can try room mode anytime today. Just turn the dial. Get the probe about a foot off the ground. The room blower should stay on in stove mode, if the dial is above 4, and the switch is up I believe. In room mode it will shut off once the set temperature is reached. In room mode it could actually shut down the stove if the switch is up. When I run in room mode now, (in cooler weather), I turn the switch up to light the stove. Then before it's even going, I flick it down so the fire keeps going on idle.

You must have missed the part where I bought a new stove? But that's a trick I'll have to look into. It also burns hotter then the old one, which is to be expected. I can't get accurate heat measurements any more because this has a slight mirror finish on the glass. I did some testing with a thermometer sitting on a table beside the stove and found that it barely moves off 80f even though the rest of the house changed dramatically temp wise, so I'm not sure how well room temp will work. The 3 rooms on the main floor have there own climates so to speak. It was 70f this morning in the living room and it was 80, it's 75 now and still 80 beside the stove. Stoves in the middle room so it spreads heat more or less equally instead of it having it push it from one end to the other. The Quadrafire is in the far end of the living room, and it suffers from lack of heat to the front.

What did you buy? am Emvrio M55?

So what did you buy? I guess another P61 or 68 if it has a mirror door. For temperature just shoot at black metal on the side. If you are on stove mode then it should hold the stove temp constant. The room fan like I say depends on the switch position and the setting. If you want the room fan on keep the switch up. In stove mode it won't shut down like in room mode.

Pellet heat test

Turn feed rate to 1 or 4
feed rate 1 or 4 as long as both values are the same
Temp gun at the same spot on the heat exchanger out
Thermometer same spot
Temp every 15min for one hour
Hotter the convection temp, better the pellet and most accurate reading.
DO NOT AIM THE TEMP GUN ON THE GLASS as it reflects and gives inaccurate readings.

From an older thread but should work for the output temps you are looking for.
You should be able to get a decent buck for your old P61

It doesn't work right I can't sell it as working, besides there's a $1000 worth of parts on it. Unfortunately the old one has a regular window in it, so the numbers aren't going to be the same. The new one puts out less heat if I were to believe the numbers I'm getting. Way to much reflection. Just curious do you have to clean it every time it runs? I just can't see a pile of pellets pushing ash out of the way and still fireing? I saw it fills the whole bowl up before it lites, is that right?

That’s normal, I know in the manual it says inch to inch and a half of ash at the end of the burnpot but mines never done that, maybe some other Harman members can chime in. And I think your other stove would be ok to list for what you think it’s worth and go from there.

And don’t try to use the glass to take temps, follow the last post I put up…more accurate and you’ll be able to get a better baseline with the new stove

And I missed the part where you said you bought a new P61A too…how long have you had it?

Day and a half. I've seen it start once.

Worth more to me in parts as I doubt I could get anything for it in its condition.

I've rolled the sensor up and stuffed it behind the stove as there's no place else to put it. And it's probably the coolest as I've got a table full of parts beside it in boxes, which won't get any air flow. Going to check the temp and set the room temp to something slightly lower then it and see how well it works before shutting it off tomorrow. Going into the 50's tomorrow. I would usually shut it off and use the Quadrafire but it can do the same thing now that it has ignitor and everything functions or should. It will be a good test.

If you take all the parts off it for spares, then you can still sell it. Someone else will have to buy the parts to make it work again. Just include every part you don't need or want.

Yes, it is normal for the pellets to pile up before lighting - although different pellets will take a different amount before lighting happens. The ash will be pushed up and out - or up the "ramp" of the firepot. I clean off the "mustache" one a day or so just becuase.

I coil the room temp probe and hang it off the door to the control board. But others hang it off the back. As long as it is not in a hot or cold spot, and away from drafts that can affect it, it will be fine.

The test had started I have it on a table 3 feet away and the probe is stuck under a lamp to hold it in place.

Just a note, I woke up and it was idling away, even though it was on stove temp. Note sure why? It was set on 1 when I went to bed on stove temp and temps had drop to 72 from 74 same outside temps. when I hooked up the external sensor it woke right up and started pouring out heat. I've changed to the new one and monitoring. I have it set on 75 vs 80 which was the room temp. It's now barely running, looks like it will go out. More later.

I got down to burning embers, no flame so I turned it up to 77 and it started dumping pellets. I'm afraid it was going out. Temp was 78 on the thermometer. I had it set at 75. it's now pouring pellets out and heating up again. So the sensor works just curious why it's really dumping out the pellets. You'd think it would dump out small amounts.
