I live in Central Ohio, and have two dealers locally that sell these stoves at List price. Is there ANY dealers out there that sell these for less than list price? Would not mind paying shipping and installing myself if the price is attractive. Also, while we are on the Harman P68 subject, is there a BETTER stove out there than this one? Seems this one is reliable and very efficient as well as nice looking. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the link. His Buy it now price is what I can get it for here without even considering shipping to Ohio, which would be about $200. Plus, it is one year old already and has lost a year of warranty. I have seen Breckmans and Whitfields at significant discounts. Never have seen a Harman discounted, however. I am faily well convinced that the Harman is the best Pellet Stove going. Forum PLEASE jump in here if you think otherwise. Thanks again for the reply.
I paid 2800 for my P-68 at the same time he did. (I bought a floor model that had not been burned)
I would think that 3k at the local shop would not be a bad deal at all.
Edit: DOH I had to look that up in the review I wrote of the stove last year.....man old age!

Thanks for your reply. Yes, $3100 here seems to be the going rate for a no frills P68. Now, am wondering if I should still pursue this Brand with the buyout? It's funny that hardly any manufacturer states the efficiency of the stove, be an easy way to pick and choose. The Brekwell seems to be almost identical, any info or comments on this brand? Could save about $800 if the overall efficiency is comparable as well as construction.
Sorry perhaps somebody else will chime in on what they liked/disliked about the breckwell stoves.

Note, Since Harman was recently purchased, I don't know what if any impact this will have on their dealer policies. However in the past, Harman has been very insistent that ALL service work, support issues, PARTS PURCHASES and WARRANTY COVERAGE be done through the dealer network. They had a fairly low rate of reimbursement for the dealer, and expected the dealer to cover most of the costs for any warranty work through the profit he made on the sale...
This meant that dealers tended to be very unwilling to work on stoves that they did not sell. I beleive Harman policies didn't discourage this - which is something that can be debated, but should be considered. In addition, while some companies (I.E. Englander) are based towards DIY service, I've gotten the impression that Harman is more targetted at the "call a repairman" type customer and isn't as friendly for DIY service.
IOW, before attempting to get a "bargain" on your Harman, consider how you are going to get it serviced and any needed warranty work done, where you are going to get parts, repair advice, etc.... In some cases it can be a smart thing, I'm not sure it would be in the case of a Harman product. (This is NOT an attack on Harman in general - their stuff has a good reputation overall, but they are dealer oriented, and most of the Harman service problems I've seen discussed seem related to people trying to use a dealer other than the one they bought the stove from, or that had the misfortune of a low quality dealer...)

I bought my Harman Oakwood from a shop in Hampton Falls NH and was told by many on this board that it was a very good deal. Not sure about shipping costs or their pellet stove pricing given the season but you might call them. I will PM you their info.

Actually any repairs that I have done on my Harman have been warranteed...
I take the defective part to dealer they say yes it's bad and they give me a new one...... For free..

That's what I have done but my dealer is nice enough to do it in advance....I call em they order in the part or have it on will call for me and I bring it in and exchangearooo.
It would be easier tho if Harman would just ship the stuff to my house as the stove shop requires me to get off work a lil early. Not a big deal but I prefer mail order if I can.
