Has anyone ever seen this type of factory built fireplace? (pictures attached)

Hello Experts,

Could you look at the pictures below of my 1970's majestic factory built fireplace, and tell me if you have ever seen such a unit safely handle a small wood burning insert? Please note that I had to remove the heat/smoke shield that runs along the top part of the opening (see the screw holes -safe?)

I do not have the majestic model number because the tag is worn.
