Somewhere near nowhere
So I have the stone in place need to grout it. Problem is the tempered glass in the old fireplace doors. I have found it can't be cut. I will have to break it and put in a panel of some kind. Any other ideas are very welcomed. The progress hybrid is gorgeous and I really hope it looks good on the slate stone. I don't know why the picks are sideways took them straight up it kind of nauseating sorry.

Greetings. Normally the complete door set is removed, frame and all. Then a damper-sealing block off plate is put in.

Will this be the taller 10" leg PH with the ashlip or the short leg version? What is the underlayment that's being used for the tile?
I put an inch of cement board under the slate stone. It is the normal leg size my r value is fine. I had the room so I'm putting it farther into the room. I think I will break the one glass panel and put in some metal.
.

Just remove the doors completely. The seal is done up at the damper area. Will there be a full liner going in?

Yea I am putting in a liner but wanted to keep the doors for the look and some seal. Actually now that I think about it the doors won't open with the new hearth installed so I guess they have to go thx.

Look up block off plate, it should give you some idea's for sealing up the fireplace with the new liner. You're off to a good start.

I have the grout in now need to measure the chimney just hoping it's not more then 35 ft or my ladder won't reach.

So the liner has showed up even put some stone in around the fireplace. The doors are staying in place I think they look good, better then a opening into fireplace box anyway. [Hearth.com] Hearth for a new progress hybrid.

Just waiting on the high temp silicon a to arrive.

How are you on clearances back to that wood and mini-alcove walls behind the stove on either side of the firebox opening? It's hard to tell from your photos how far away your stove will sit and all that material looks to be combustible. The hearth came out nice.

With the rear heat shield rear clearance wont be a problem. I have a 22 inch run off the tee so I just might clear the side of the mini-alcove. If not can make some kind of wall protection for that one side. I will be off setting farther to the right to make way for the side loading door of the progress.I went with the heavy flex liner pipe so it should last a lifetime.

Liner is in we managed to slide it up the flue.

Wait 'till you fire that puppy up and watch & feel the magic.
Yea I can't wait. Winter is coming and I look forward to it. Hopefully the wood stacks hold up with two stoves to feed.

Fired up the stove with 3 splits tonight to take off a little chill on a very rainy (but welcome) day.

Ordering from Woodstock seems like a gamble, but when it shows up you know they didn't let you down. Any stove that comes out of that factory is art.

yea this stove blew me away when i got it out of the crate. Even just the emblem shows the attention to detail. I also heard from reviews that the ash pan and grate make ash removal so much easier.

Holy smokes, now that is dedication. We used that rain day as an opportunity to cool the home into the 60s before the next wave of heat. The flywheel effect. I suppose you guys with a.c. didn't need a cool down.

Son came back soaking wet. I hung his socks and shoes next to the stove. It was just a small fire, a chill chaser and a way to burn up the mountain of pistachio nut shells collecting in the stove. The AC on the heat pump has only been on twice this summer. We rarely have gotten above 82F due to the cooling effect of Puget Sound. The night time temps have been in the 60s except for a couple days so the house cools down easily at night with the windows open. It's been a dry but very nice summer.

So i stuffed all the roxul i could in to the opening in the damper area around the liner and some at the top plate. Do you think I need the block off plate the insulation is staying up on its own.

I would put up a plate.

Stove is on the hearth, just need to get it all put together.

Random question... When you pull the ashpan, how far out does it come from the side of the stove before you can carry it to wherever you are dumping the ashes?

I think the ashpan spans the entire width of the firebox so at least 22 inches but i haven't installed it yet but the grate is very heavy duty. One of the reasons i chose this stove is because of what i read about the ashpan.

Definitely make a block off plate before that big stove is set in place.

Getting closer plate is in just need to attach tee the heavy flex is going to be a tight fit in the top of the tee any tips.[Hearth.com] Hearth for a new progress hybrid.[Hearth.com] Hearth for a new progress hybrid.
