Hearthstone Heritage Internal Parts View

Does anyone know where I can get a picture of the internal parts of the Heritage? Reason I need this is I had my stove PROFESSIONAL cleaned (150 dollars) and the guy tried to hand me EXTRA parts when he was done. The part he handed me was a flat piece of steel about a 1/8th in thick, 1in wide, 12 inches long and it had a a couple of small hole near the center. I explained that he is not DONE until the part is returned to the exact spot. He put it back after some work and the stove work fine..... BUT, I would really like to know what this part is and where it goes. From here on out I will clean my own stove. I would be more than happy to share this companies name to anone in Northwestern side of Mich.... BEWARE...

I don't see a part like what you describe on the 8021 except maybe the top heat shield #16, but that's more than an inch wide. On the 8020, it could be #52, the secondary manifold support.

YOU DA MAN! Thanks a lot! OK, both the wife and I looked at the exploded view of the 8021. The part is number 16, Top Radiation Shield. I thought it was a little smaller than what it looks in the view, my wife says no. That is the part. I do know that he put it back up on top where is shows, but not sure it exacatly where it should be. So this begs the question, what would the issue be if this joker put this part in the wrong place?

Well I don't own a Heritage, but it sounds like it's back where it should be. It affixes to the underside of the stove top and protects the iron and soapstone from being directly blasted with heat as flames curl up around the baffle. The Mansfield has a heat shield in the same place. The stove won't fall apart without it, but it would accelerate the aging process of the cement and possibly cause the top casting to sag over time.

OK. Good to know. I have not notice any difference in the top surface temps. I will leave it as is for now and insure it is in the correct position when I clean it myself next June/July.

Thanks again for the views. I feel like I can fix anything on the stove now. The owners manual just doesn't give this type of information.

I have been reading threads on cleaning this stove. Most say that it doesn't nee to be taken a part. Wonder why the guy took mine a part. After three seasons he pulled about two quarts of soot from it. The chimney run basically through the center of a two story home, to give you an idea on the height of the stack.
