I'll throw this out there: My NC30 is going in the fireplace. To get in there, at the very least, I'll be hacking the legs down as Snot and others have done.
I could gain more "head room," though, if I lost the legs altogether, not to mention the ash pan and the OAK intake.
This would slam the stove on the hearth as far as she'll go. What do you fellow 30 owners say?

What you are calling the "oak intake" is the primary air intake for the stove. Don't even think about removing it. The primary air control slider is inside it. And you will create a blast furnace with unrestricted air flying into it.

What is the height of your fireplace lintel?

How tall is your opening? You should post all the info you gave me in our conversation earlier. There are a lot of NC30 owners here.

Mine is 27 inches tall and fit great with the cut off legs.

Like Bart said you can't remove the rear intake box anyway.

27" high at lintel
26" wide at rear of firebox
35" wide at front of firebox
Snot if yours was 27 then I guess I'd be okay. How tall were your legs after you cut them? You said you used a grinder?
I did not realize the air control was in that box. Yes, cutting that would be bad Joo-Joo.

bb- Could you explain one more time what hole goes where under the 30? Like many, I've played with magnets before and it'd be nice to know what's what.
There's the primary, the two small round holes in the front, and the rectangular hole in the middle of the rear, right? What feeds what?

The intake OAK box on the bottom does contain the intake valve but the valve is up on top so the box could be hacked off to some extent. Just look in there and you can see the important stuff is on top.

The rear rectangle is unregulated secondary air for the roof tubes.

It should work but doing it will negate the ul listing

Snot- looks like a threaded adjustable foot on the right rear leg of your 30. Doth mine eyes deceiveth me?

Hi guys, I just bought the used stove from my neighbor. I have a very small (shallow depth) fireplace box and just realized the the 30 blower sticks way out in the back. I think by modifying the base I can get the stove to work dimensionally however with the distance that 30 blower sticks out this is going to put my stove extending way out of the fire box and very forward on the hearth. Has anyone did anything with blower modification/removal or added another option of adapting a smaller blower?

Englander makes two blowers that fit the 30. The standard is the larger/round one, but check their website and you should be able to order the rectangular/smaller one.
I need to do this as well.

Is there a dimensional drawing of this stove showing from the back of the stove to the centerline of the 6" flu collar?

Snot- looks like a threaded adjustable foot on the right rear leg of your 30. Doth mine eyes deceiveth me?

They do deceive you. :p

The base of my fireplace is far from level. It almost has a crown to it. I put a couple washers under that 1 leg to get it perfectly level.
