Hi guys glad I found your forum. I Just rebuilt a old Napoleon 1400 . i found on the side of the road .. LOL I Replaced all the bricks and gaskets , It was missing the heat shields , But I took care of that by fabbing up some diamond plate steel and welded it to the sides and back . My old house last yr burnt 1400$ in electricity. for the winter .. I just got my Bill for 2 months and it was 86 dollars ... I heat My house and my shop 600 sq ft . and the house1200 sq ft . with wood .. Its been colder that my exwifes Hart this winter . But nice and warm inside the house and shop . Glad I found you guys ...Stay warm !!

Thanks Guys . I did all the work My self . Drilled the foundation Cut the roof for the chimney .. I was also able to find all the chimney for under 4oo$ 21ft of 2100s stainless. So I am happy with the warmth .. Time to reload Lol

Man that's a nice set up you have there, and a free stove to boot!! One question for Ya, do you actually load those big rounds (if that's what I see) into that stove with the size they are? Holy Bat*#@* if you do. Maybe that would be a good question for the forum. "What is the biggest piece of wood you have put into your stove" Just an idea.... And the Teapot, BIG. Maybe everything in Canada is big like in Texas. Stay warm.

Big bubba glad you have a nice stove, found on the side of the road??? You are in Quebec so you are as cold as us in Ontario . Glad you have the wood heat and found the forum!

Eater309 Yes But I trim them down abit to fit through the door .. Thats a all Niter log .. That goes on top of the bed of coals . The firebox is very large . plus its 2yr old Maple .. Burn baby Burn LOL

Burning my late February pile . going to need more soon if it keeps up li8ke this .. Next winter Ihave 15 Cord of sugar maple . ready to rock .. But No good for this season .. Oh well .. guess I will have to Pay for wood .. 1st season No choice .. But next yr I have my own .

Big bubba tough when wood is in short supply, glad to hear that you have next years. My son is an arborist and is working in Toronto right now in the aftermath of the ice storm and they are taking huge trees to municipal yards and grinding them into chips because no one wants the wood. I would take truckloads but the cost of moving the wood does not make sense! Pretty sad to see good wood go to waste when people could use it.

Very cool . on ur son I did the same thing when The Ice storm hit us in 1999 . I had almost 3 yrs of cutting ..Plus when buying wood .. I get upset . with this facecord Garbage . what do you pay up your way for a cord ?

Face cord is about 75 -90 bucks cdn lol . I think my cost is around 300 by the time I have the tractor,a tv chainsaws etc plus beer for the workers!
What so you have to pay in QC?

I'm between Ottawa and Kingston, and have watched firewood prices. I have seen range of 100-125/face cord, unseasoned. Haven't seen anything under $100. Know someone in Haliburton who sells for $125/face cord ad sold over 200 face cords...cannot meet the demand. A lot of money, to my mind.

Well it can range fro 75 up pick it up to 120 delivered . But what I do is i look on Kijiji and I have found some wood for free just have to pick it up .. But that is in the spring and summer

Rideau I go to a cottage in the Halliburton area and part of the deal is I provide a face cord of wood stacked by the cottage. I have been paying around 90$ a face cord for the last few years. It is really nice hard maple but not seasoned just been cut and split. Seller told me it was ready to burn, well we have all heard that, so for the last two years I have been buying 2 face cords to be ahead of the game. We burn this in an open fireplace to heat the cottage and it works quite well. Keep thinking it would be nice to put a proper stove in this cottage but not mine so just try to get seasoned wood for it. Just thinking, if I had to buy wood for my place I would still do it because I like the heat from wood better than gas.
