Help with stove adapter for 30NC wood stove

Just purchased an England 30NC wood stove and used Ventis Double Wall black pipe with a Ventis double wall stove adapter. The adapter will not fit flush on the stove. The interior pipe hits the weld inside the stove which prevents it from sitting flush. I called the company today they quit selling the AC-1677 adapter (mentioned in the manual). I need suggestions for a flush adapter. Thank you. Blaine Coon

It does fit snug. Here is a pic of how the inner pipe hits the weld on the collar.

Sounds perfect. The inner tapered pipe makes the seal. If it’s tight and you can get screws in to connect the appliance collar to the inner pipe then run them in.

I trim down the inner pipe to make the outer sit down better. Or just run with no adapter. That works well on some stoves. Other stoves the adapter sits down perfectly.

Definitely not a requirement for DVL. I was worried for a minute!

A drawband collar around the "exposed" part of the adapter would take care of any "issues" in my mind (but I'd probably run it as is as I said earlier) although I'm sure that would not satisfy some inspectors. The UL guys would have little geek heart attacks when they seen that clamp!

That information was direct from Bryan the CEO of Olympia that manufacturers ventis. I find it a bit absurd that you think an inch of single wall exposed at the hottest part of the pipe would not effect clearances

Would that clearance be part of the stove clearance spec? The flue collar being part of the stove. The lab testing doesn't specify a particular type of double-wall required.

That would be a question for Englander. All I know is what Olympia told me which was the double wall has to run from the stove top to the chimney with no gaps.

it’s not a very tall lip on that rear heat shield but it is welded on.

I don’t think it matters what Bryan allegedly said. This is a ul listed product and unless the installation instructions require that outer shield to rest on the stove top then I can’t see how anybody can require it.

Looks like the flue collar extends just slightly above the rear heat shield. Less than 1/4”.

I don't know if the collar counts as single wall or not. As I said that is a question for Englander. But I do know what I was told by Olympia. And I know making it fit all the way down is extremely easy so why not just do it and be on the safe side? I honestly don't know if it says it in their instructions or not. I took their training class on their ventis line when it was introduced and that is what I have gone by unless a new product is introduced.

I did above. I either trim down the inner wall so it fits down or run just the pipe with no adapter if that fits better. Every stove is different I have also had to hammer out the inner wall to make it fit tight in the collar.
