In some need of suggestions on how to fix my vent setup.

Replaced a PDVC with a PS50 this fall in a corner install. The PDVC was vented as following - Appliance adapter - 45 Elbow - 2' Horizontal Section - Cleanout Tee - 5' Vertical - 90 Elbow - Termination Cap.

I know this is above the EVL for a 3" pipe, but the setup actually performed pretty well, no airflow issues. In order to install the PS50 without it being into the room I had to add another 90 Elbow after the appliance adapter in order to get the pipes to line up. So now there is a 90 and a 45 elbow one after another before I get to the 2' Horizontal.

The stove actually runs pretty well with this setup, but the glass gets dirty very quickly - even after a complete cleaning and leaf blower. I am debating on whether I should just go to a straight out vent or replace the complete vent and go with 4" pipe. Picture is attached just in case there was another option that I am missing. I do not want to move the location of the thimble.

Option #1 Straight Out - Appliance Adapter - 90 Elbow - 45 Elbow - 2' Horizontal - Termination Cap. The termination cap would be 70" above my lawn. If I am understanding the requirements correctly this is acceptable. This method would by much cheaper, I would only need to buy a battery backup in case of power failure.

Option #2 Change to 4" Pipe - Appliance Adapter - 90 Elbow - 45 Elbow - 2' Horizontal - Cleanout Tee - 5' Vertical - 90 Elbow - Termination Cap. This option seems to be very expensive $600+

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Need more pics. Why the 90 at termination?

Need more pics. Why the 90 at termination?

I assume that would be to point away from the house after the vertical run.

Any reason you cant pull the stove foreward a bit and use an adjustable connection from the 45 to the existing horizontal?

I don't think you need the 90 at termination based on the pics. It appears to me the termination would be pointing away from the house without it. Or am I wrong?

That style cap is a horizontal termination cap. If a vrtical cap was used the house would be black from soot.

The rear corners of the stove are already 10 inches from the wall (2" is the requirement for a PS50). The stove is about as far into the room as it can go without being in the way.

Well in order to go 45 and out you would have to move the wall thimble correct? If moving the the thimble is an option you dont mind doing you could have
Cleanout and vertical inside and then move the thimble up the wall and go out and by doing this you will keep the natural draft and you should be able to keep it within "recommended evl"

There is a TV above the stove so I can't go up. I am just over the 12" required to an inside corner from the pipe too, so the thimble has to stay where it is.

Where did you read 12" clearance to a corner? Most pellet venting only needs 3 inch from combustibles

Straight from the manual. I believe all stoves have the same requirement.

G 12 in. Clearance to inside corner

That is measured oitside of the house.. if you had the pipe terminate near a corner

3 or 4 inch clearance inside

Ok... i had dumb moment... scratch everything i said..

after looking at the pic twice it finally soaked in.. sorry

It is most definitely 12 to a corner inside of the house. They even have a picture of what they mean, Harman manual says the same.

I think I am pretty much locked in with either of the two options I listed in the first post. Just want to see if anybody has opinions on either of them or if I am missing something else.

It didnt dawn on me the termination was on an outside corner.. so you are correct.
But the 12 inches is from the outside corner of the house to the edge of the termination cap.

I would do everything possible to avoid all the crooks and curves..

In the Heatilator manual it does state 12 inches to an outside corner, but also 12 to an inside corner. The illustration clearly shows that they are referring to the distance of the pipe inside the house to the corner. The Harman manual says 12 inside and 11 outside.

You stated inside corner which is labeled g in the illustration.. that G Requirement of 12 inches on an inside corner is for the termination cap. Not the vent inside the house

If you move the thimble a few inches over while maintaining the 12 inch clearance outside it should just about line up without all the extra bends.
