We're FINALLY getting our Summit next week. Been reading a lot but would love to hear the "seasoned" replies of the locals. Oh and yes, we knew enough to get some wood and it's even dry!

Feel free to post a favorite link from previous hearth posts. TIA.

keep reading the hearth.com all 5............ ;-)

1. Read and follow your stove or insert manufacturers Owners Manual completely. They designed and built it!
2. Buy a stove top or flue thermometer, if one is applicable to be used on your heating device. Learn how to use it.
3. Use seasoned wood, if for a wood stove. No excuses are accepted for poor planning!
4. Take no shortcuts for safety!
5. Read and search Hearth.com forums for topics and key words before asking. The answer may be already be here.

Burn wisely. Keep warm. Enjoy your stove.

1.A good bed of coals before adding monster splits is a good idea.
2.Know your spieces of wood, it can save you in a pinch.
3.A sharp chain can be had with a $3.00 file in less than 10 min.
4.Put a little sand/dirt in the hole your wedge just jumped out of and it should help.
5.Save your dense spieces for the cold months, burn you scraps and chunks early.
