How long do you wait before you get your portable Generator going?

There are many factor I take into consideration before powering up the beast (mine will power the entire house, but not the Air Cond.).
1 - Cause of the outage.....something that is widespread with many cusotmers out then power it up as where we live is low on the totem pole for getting service back.
2 - Time of outage...as was stated in previous post, close to bedtime might require a short run to get the house put into bed mode.
3 - Boredom...as stated before if family starts to go through withdrawl then power it up.

So time to turn on could be anywhere from 15 mins to 3 hrs.
