Hi, we have been doing some remodeling and have left exposed a brick chimney approx 17.5 inches wide. It is in the hallway by the stairway going upstairs. It seems to be in alright shape. Should I put some kind of sealer or finish on it? It will be exposed, we put up drywall around it. Thanks!

A good wash with maybe a little muriatic depending on how dirty to brighten them up might be enough. Seal if you want that look.

Why seal it? I don't see any reason at all to do anything to it other than a little cleaning up.
