just put my order in with CtPellet for this seasons' supply.

1 ton Okanagan Black Hills
1 ton barefoot
1 ton Dry Creek Premium Hardwood
1.2 ton LaCrete Super Premium

i'm planning to burn
dry creeks in late oct/early nov, and the late winter/spring switchover -- my 'shoulders'.
the lacreetes in mid nov to xmass and then again in late winter, say march
the oakies and barefoots will hold me over through jan and feb's bitter cold.

And I plan to have extras of all of them. I usually burn about 3.2 tons a year, and I still have 10 bags left over from last year (a couple easy blaze and a couple energex American)... and I have a new OAK which should reduce my usage I hope so maybe drop that back to 3.0 even, gives me a start on next years stock.... which means, i'm not a pig, but a piglet.


I gave up on trying to find somersets at a reasonable price and the rest of the big box stores variety is pretty useless. TSC has some mwp... I might grab some but honestly, 4 tons is stuffing my storage to the rafters.

That's a nice little variation of pellets. I wish CTPellet would extend his delivery region to include parts of Ny. He always seems to have an awesome collection of Pellets.

I believe there's legal issues with the trucks going out of state.... tax nonsense and so forth. becomes federal instead of local or something like that. It's not the distance, its the border.

Are the barefoot pellets really worth the price , well around here anyway only one place has them and they are 335 a ton and 85 delivery

I've actually never burned them before. but they are always a top rated consistent burner with good heat and low ash here on the boards. I was going to get 2 oakies but figured why not try something new?
I haven't burned the black hills either though... so this is a bit of a hedge. I had the old white bag oakies and they were the hottest thing I ever burned so i'm pretty excited to see how these fair.

I have not burned anything yet (A NEWBIE) but those brands you mentioned are only available at one or two places and are expensive. I have on hand 2 tons of pres-to-logs, half ton of green supreme half of stove chow, and thirty bags of natures own, getting 20 bags of timber heat pellets that will round out 4 tons for me. my stove is being installed sat so I guess I find out soon enough what burns well and what does not.

Green Supreme, Inferno's, Nations Choice and North American. They also have Greene Teams but @$279????

o are they all 279 or just the green teams? I got all my pellets for 209 a ton at lowes except for stove chow I got them at home depot same price

because they are actually decent... and we buyers demanded that brand over the others... and they caught on and jacked the price. it WAS part of the same old 'pellet' sku and price a few years back.

wow, I do remember one of the guys from lowes telling me that everyone was asking for green teams and they would get mad at him when they didn't come in. I thought that lowes charged the same price for all pellets.

jeanine , personally , i wouldn't buy any of the brands you mentioned except stove chow and green teams . i've tried all of them except infernos . stove chow med or better heat and ash and one of the best bargain pellets i've found . green teams , great heat and no ash problems here . folks here loved them til the price went up , but they don't seem to realize that most of the great exotic pellets you hear about here aren't available in many of our areas and if they are that they are $320 per ton .

try before you buy doesn't really work if your trying before it gets cold out , they all work great when it's 55 .

hey my opinion , but i strongly urge you to do your own testing . every stove and situation is different .

I found the Barefoots to be a good pellet but not worth the extra price. I also found that while I was burning the Barefoots, I was testing out a few bags, I heard continuous "popping" coming from the stove - more specifically the auger. That being the case I stayed away.
