take a look at the connection of where the "snout" attaches to the motor housing as outlined in red of this picture. At the factory the manufacturer get the motor like this and then attaches their own snout....but the RTV is sometimes weak OR is
weakened by the installation/ un-installation of venting. I have found TONS of Sherwood products that need this area siliconed again and again to prevent the smoke smell during start ups, especially if someone ever tries to remove the venting by taking the four screws out of this area to separate the venting from the stove

Good point Scott, that is an area we automatically seal up every cleaning espec as stoves age
