On the way to my woodlot is this place. He clears it out every year and starts over. In his 70's too.

He can't move to NY because those are face cords - illegal to sell in NY.

Is that what heaven looks like. Looking at the second picture it looks like the stacker stacks wedge up except for the bottom row.

Very Nice

He must be getting senile. I hope when I'm 70 that I can still remember to stack it bark side up.

 I was going to post a request that in the future if he could stack bark side up I'd appreciate it! I may not get every split bark side up but if I had stacks that way I'd go crazy!

Why? I stack whatever way the wood fits best, never paid any attention to which direction the bark was.

Boy, that's pretty!
But...huge splits (some Oak,) no air flow, sold in less than a year? It's fireplace wood.

There is a pro firewood seller in West Branch, MI off I-75 going east toward Rau rd that always has an acre or more of perfectly stacked splits. It is an amazing site - and all the more amazing now that I am heating my home with wood. Drive past it and think of all the work that went into those stacks on my way to deer camp.

Now that I am an addict I will stop an snap a couple pics the next time I am up there to post here for all to see.

I've got wood envy.

Obviously pics were taken in the fall--what does it look like now?

I'm heading out to my woodlot today. I will bring the camera and see if I can snap a shot on the way by. The last time the yard was empty except for a new load of 8 footers. The yard goes empty every year.

He started that pile when he was 35. Now he looks back over all he had worked for and wonders if he will live long enough to burn it.

Did you notice on top of all the NS stacks there is a thin wire line ? Wonder what that is for. It doesn't look like its holding the stacks in a "tie-down" fashion.
