Wood also lean toward tulip, because of the staining, Sure is a cornucopia of leaves on the ground, but I can't see any poplar. Split that round on the ground to confirm.
 
Yellow poplar/Tulip, no question about it.

Somebody cut one piece and said the heck with it. That heartwood will burn fine when you get it cut and split.
