Just sharing if you haven't heard- Harbor Freight had their Centech Infrared Thermometer on sale for $19.82. Also Thermoworks has their infrared Thermometer on sale for $34.95.

I have one from last year (I think it was $10 last year) and it works just fine. I'm not sure if that's a loss-leader or if they really can be made that cheap... of course, China can make lots of things cheap when they use questionable materials and slave labor... buyer discretion is advised...

I just ordered this one to replace my junk HF one. I know its cheap too, hopefully it will last longer. Way better specs at least.

Some reasons I spent about $10 more than the cheaper ones... adjustable emissivity, 16:1 spot ratio, and double laser to actually see the spot size, not just a dot in the middle, and >1,000F reading.

Just be aware that one only goes to 716F. Might be fine for most but I prefer higher, heck my Jotul will cruise that high or higher on a good burn!

We mainly need one for checking bearing temps. of Round Balers. Everyone says that's the best way to tell if you're getting ready to have a bearing failure on baler. It's nearly impossible to detect one any other way than temp. changes.

Yeah I used them with the brakes on my truck and my wife's car when I was troubleshooting sticking breaks, and also my 2-burner size griddle (for like making pancakes & such) they have lots of uses around the house.

I use them to measure the wife's cats' temperature. The dog then notices with hilarious results.
