I am about to install an insert and it looks like I will need a boot with about a 30 degree angle to connect to my liner. Will it make any difference if I go with cast or stainless boot? Is one recommended over the other? ps. if anyone has a 6" boot for sale let me know!

I have looked at those, but they wont fit with location of the stove and the way the pipe comes in.
The High Valley 2500 is a big baby. Is there an 8" to 6" reducer on the flue collar? Can you post a basic sketch of the problem you are trying to solve?
I can post a sketch this evening. I bought an 8 to 6 reducer, but it sits too high for an elbow to work, and too far forward for the liner to go straight in.
See if you can find the Otis Ring Reducer from HV. You might be able to get it from Appalachian's part store found here: (broken link removed)

Why? It's an insert. Don't wanna be lifting the liner and dragging the insert out every few years to swap it out. Trust me on that one.

That's going to be a big challenge. Short transitions exist, but it is supposed to be stainless for an insert. A good sheetmetal shop could fabricate something like this but it will be expensive:

Just found out mine doesn’t have a liner or an adapter any thoughts?

That is a slammer install which is no longer allowed. The chimney should be thoroughly cleaned and then a liner added and attached to the stove.
Huh? You have an old Appalachian, that is Steel. You will need to drill and tap the insert top to screw the adapter boot to it.
You really need to make your own thread as this is a different subject than the OP.
