I am installing a King 40 stove and using double-wall Duravent from the stove to the ceiling support box. Do I need a chimney adaptor to connect the stove to the chimney or can I use a crimping tool on the inner pipe of the chimney to allow it to slide into the stove?

I think unless you can buy the exact bolt on adapter (which I could for my pellet stove) you have to slide the inner portion onto the nipple and cement it on. I'm not sure. I have heard of putting screws through too.

Okay. I am going to reach out to my local fireplace spot and see what they say. From what I have seen and can tell, the inner portion should slide into the nipple on the stove itself, but there are folks who have used the adapter as well. The manual from Blaze King says to use an adapter unless the appliance is specifically approved for that type of installation.

The pipe and stove have screw holes to fasten them together, but I have not confirmed if they align.

I appreciate the insight!

I used duravent double wall on my princess and needed the adapter piece. I recommend that you purchase the adapter. You can always try it both ways as I did and return the adapter if it's not necessary.

Other stoves, like my old hearthstone, worked perfectly with no adapter on the same duravent chimney. There is no standard diameter of collar on stoves.

No cement or other sealant is needed. This is a natural draft appliance so nothing should be blowing out of any imperfections. Pellet stoves have forced exhaust so can blow exhaust out of the leaks.

I just called my local fireplace store, and luckily, they had one in stock! I appreciate the advice! I am excited to get the stove up and running! Thank you very much!
