Has anyone ever replaced refractory chamber w/ access panel on a Vermont Intrepid II model 1308? Is it a PITA?

Mine is beat up and comes apart in small pieces every time I go back there to clean the catalyst. These things are so brittle I don’t want to damage a new one putting it in. Does it slide / drop easily in?
