Jotul not firing on Stat

It’s a Jotul 3DVII and a basic Honeywell thermostat. The Stat setting is not responding as expected. Any help appreciated.

Set the Jotul switch to On and the Honeywell to call for heat, the Jotul fires.

Set the Jotul to Stat and the Honeywell to call for heat, nothing happens.

Set to On, call for heat, set Stat, slide the Honeywell to a low temp, flame stops. Call for heat again, nothing. Click to On, flame on.

Annoying! What might be the problem?

I'd say the thermostat is malfunctioning.
Have you cleaned the contacts?
If you have, & it's still acting up,
it might be time to replace it.
