I found a small grove of these trees next door on my SIL's property. Looks like we are on the northern edge of the Post Oak's natural range. I think I'll get some acorns and see if I can start a couple...don't recall seeing any over here yet. Cool-looking leaf!

You are right Woody. It is a nice looking leaf and definitely a bit different.
 
Leaves sometimes shaped like a maltese cross,there's a few scattered near me & in southern 2 tiers of Iowa counties.Great wood,similar to Bur Oak its one of the densest species of White Oak.
