HI all, IM learning a lot from reading this web site. Cut some red Oak the other day, and from reading I now know it has to sit for a long time. and how important the wind is in drying of the wood. AN old fart can learn a lot. Thank you all
Oak is some of the greatest firewood , IMO . its the best ,but hay thats just me . Others love Locust , Ash or maybe even hickory . We all have our Favorites here. I've learned this from Oak if you have the room and can get alot of it . Let it season for 3 years . Ive burned it at 1 year , 2 years and 3 . 2 being the minimum
From here on out the oak that I burn will have been split and stacked for a minimum of 2 years, and a good bit of it will have sat for 3. It's nice being ahead for sure!
