It has a grey bark and produced long chips, but the color was a little more blue and the pictures don't really reflect it. It's white inside. How about pignut hickory or beach?

Thanks,
Bruce

Hard Maple. Bark, and color of heartwood spot on.

19MBTU on the scale. Is that considered soft? The number reads medium. Should I stack it with the red maple identified earlier for faster seasoning?

Thanks,
Bruce

Leaves are the easiest way to tell between the maples. Typically the hard maple will have 5-7 lobes , while the red will usually have 3. The silver maples leaf lobes are also very deep between the lobes . All are excellent burning firewood that will serve you well. ;)
