Feeling the Heat

Bell bell Pa.
I'm looking to purchase the Quadra Fire Castile. manufacturer's date 2007.
I have a few questions on the stove.
Do they sell aftermarket parts for the stove or do you have to go through the dealer? average price of control board or blower if needed?
Before I purchase the stove what are the main thing I should be looking for?

What is the stove worth being seven years old?
I'm very mechanically inclined and have no problem buying something used to fix up just don't want to spend a s*** load of money on something that going to need alot of parts in ayears time
seller stated that the stove had been sitting for a few years and needs a gasket.
any suggestions before I purchased the stove would be greatly appreciative.

Anyone ?
Whats the life span?

Mostly it depends on how well taken care of the stove was....mine is a 2008 (installed Jan 2009) and it is like new...Just needs a new door gasket......my guess if in good condition it should be worth half of a new one...around here probably 1500 or so.

Hi Burd- Good choice, the castile will heat around 1200 sq ft, is a good performer too. Its thermostatically controlled, 3 heat levels, moderate noise. The control board is about 160-200 dollars average, cleaning is pretty easy, but necessary for the stove to perform correctly. Used they go anywhere from 1000-1500, painted black, enamels a couple hundred more. New they sell around 2800-3000 depending on the dealer. Stove been around a long time, good company and good support.

Hello

The top 3 stoves worth buying used and fixing up are:
Harman, Quadrafire and Englander.

So my anser is yes!
I have TWO, year 2k Quadrafire Contours, one I fixed up last year and is running great. I picked up another just recently.

I like to take the burn pots out, clean them and paint them. Then make a new burn pot gasket and replace the burn pot bolts with some nice Stainless Steel bolts that will last much longer!

How about Using a Lux T-Stat from Lowe's with the swing setting. Makes my shed warm before I go out there in the winter :)

Last and not least, some pics of replacing the Sante Fe door gasket with a nice Graphite Impregnated Gasket!

Also the left side door bottom popped apart, so my welder not only fixed it but added strength by adding additional welds in the center of the bottom and top piece. I would recommend doing this before painting as the welding burns off a little paint!
