Lots of colder air coming into the northern tier of states. Looking into this weekend and next week, at least here in the Northeast, some real winter weather looming as repeated shots of increasingly colder air get drawn down out of Canada. My last snow storm forecast a couple of weeks ago was a bust. How's about another shot end of this weekend beginning of next week? Early indications show possiblity of first significant snow storm for northeast. Get your wood piles in order and stay tuned. Of course all the usual disclaimers apply. :coolcheese:

I say bring it! I'm ready for it now! Sitting in front of that stove with the temp up to 76 inside and upper teens outside without hearing the furnace kick on.............PRICELESS!

Firewood all put up. Skis waxed. Plow guy lined up.

I'm ready!

It's here. Was 10 degrees this morning. 74 inside. :-) Looks like we might get 1-4 inches of snow tonight or tomorrow. I started up the snow blower yesterday and everything checked ok. I'm ready.

I dont mind the cold, but boy i hate the snow. :shut:

Forecasts say cold but the forecasted lows aren't as low as they were last week. Today I though we might get blown off the map though but the wind has finally dropped to a decent level. It does feel cold out there too.

As for the possible storm this weekend, it is much too early to tell much about it, but we're ready anyway. All that is needed is a few minutes to put the blade on and we'll be plowing snow.

Budman, the snow is not that bad if the temperature is right. When the snow is soggy, that is when it is bad. I hate that wet stuff but it is all part of winter.

damb i miss those winnipeg winters. (used to work there a few months of the year) you guys had a good run at the end there on sunday i thought there was a chance after sask gave up a 3rd safety. its only minus 15 here but it still sucks. it will help with the ice, i wana climb and play some hockey.

Mmmm, let's see...two tons of pellets stored up and one more on the way, riding mower and boat all packed away, snowblower in place and at the ready, and a nice fire burning....I'm ready for he O'l Man!

Well, December is here so... winter comes.
Haven't run the OWB in 4 days and the water is still 177' because the house hasn't called for any heat.
This is I am expermenting with only using the Leyden as a heat source. (new this fall- got to break it in.)
So far- It's roasting in here!
Only burning 4-5 splits in the early evening, basement staying between 70-78, main floor (upstairs) it's 65-70.
Temps have not been that bad out this week- we will see as the 'cold weather' get here.

Yeah, but how do you split them?

Do they buy little Honda 12lb. splitters? Little log racks?

And is it true that they all pray to (broken link removed to http://new.wavlist.com/tv/001/snl-coulditbe.wav)?

Got three tons of those "mini logs" stacked in my
garage and porch, moved the bass boat off
the driveway and winterized it, got the snowplow
all set to go on my Jeep, and have two cases
of sam adams octoberfest. I'm ready for anything. :-)

Never thought I would fall in love again.

It was 60F this morning when I walked the dog but only 50F at lunchtime. It was nice going for 1.5 days without burning anything - every split, like every drop of oil, costs me money. I started the stove again tonight around 9 when it was 42F out and 59F inside. The house will be nice and toasty by bedtime.

Well this forecast is looking like it wasn't a bust, You Wisconson and Michigan guys look like your gonna get really cold, then really white and then really cold again. Interior New England looking kind of the same. Much of the northern part of the nation really cold for this time of year and for the next week or two the way its looking. Several possible snow opportunities through this period as well. All of us who got new (to us) stoves set up will find out how they work! :)

Winter started about 2 weeks ago up here north of Edmonton, AB - night time lows in the -20 C. Good place to have a hot stove and lots of firewood!

Looks like it's going to be a cold one, too!
