This beast has been standing deal for 10 years , finally came down, worked on it all day yesterday, quite a bit done cut haul up a steep hill. The stuff is beautiful and ready to burn this year, it can eat up some chains. This weekend will finish it will be a massive load, love burning RED elm.

Good score. What's it like to split? Is it stringy?

Not at all splits beautifully, this is red not American which is rubbish, red elm is a phenomenal wood for your stove.

Nice, i have not seen that red color on any elms hear in East Coast in Jersey. Check your chain. Looks like your cutting a bit crooked. 1 side sharper than the other I'd guess by those ends.

Interesting wood. Never seen that tree down here in Dixie.
