My buddy is a chainsaw carver, thought I would share this pic of his latest project. [Hearth.com] MONSTER round.
 
Wow, that has to be heavy!! Too big for my splitter.

I believe it's going to be a heron and a fish, will post a pic if I can.
 
He hasn't finished the monster round yet but here is a amusing video of him at work.......

Man that's a big piece of wood. I was offered a couple about that size once, just as big, not as tall, I just laughed. Love to see it when it's done.

it wont be that big when he's finnished :)
a crane is used to lift it onto a truck.
 
Maybe he will give you what he cuts away?

People who can look at that gaint chunk of wood like that, see the bird and fish inside, and then carve away all the "extra" so that even I can see it - are just amazing! What a gift.
 
I was told that oak does not carve well with a chainsaw. It almost looks like pine.
