Trying to replace my rain cap and I can’t tell what brand/manufacture it is. Got a new one from Menards and it would not fit the pipe, was just a bit too large and wouldn’t lock. Please help!! Thanks in advance!!
No labels, looked all over. Got it all when I bought the stove from a guy who took it out of a house he was rehabbing. It’s 8”, about all I know unfortunately.
It’s Security chimney. See if any dealers near by sell it. As an alternative, a TLC deluxe cap will work, Excel caps will likely work too. They both attach to the outer wall of the chimney and require a lock to keep it in place. (broken link removed to http://www.hartandcooley.com/products/tlc-rain-caps/rain-caps)
It looks like mine. I will have to look what brand it is. My cap is stainless steel and has 2 bands where yours has 1. Mine had a 1/4 screen. It plugged up in a half a season, 20 years ago. My wood that first year was bad, but the screen had to go.
Only had up for a couple months and already had a bird get in the pipe. Was going to replace with one with mesh.
Technically I need to add another 2’ section of pipe to get the proper code clearance. So trying to determine the pipe brand also cause Supervent brand doesn’t fit and lock to it.

The mesh will get clogged up pretty easily. A lot of people use mesh during the summer months and then remove it when the burning season starts. Have you looked to see if any dealers near you carry Security? Like I said above, the TLC cap will fit too, and they offer an optional mesh.
