I have to deal with this almost everyday! When they say their stove won't work, My Fiskars axe and moisture meter back me up!
) and he went on to tell me all new stoves suck, they don't burn worth a damn. Said we're lucky our stoves are a older and still produce heat. My stove is two years old, BOTH of his are 3 year old stoves.....
I heard everything from "what a waist of money, it's illegal to burn wood anymore!" to "the problem with catalytic stoves is that they must be replaced every 5 - 7 years." For those that are wondering, that comment was made by a dealer and NO he was not talking about the catalyst. He told me straight faced that the ENTIRE insert will only last 5 - 7 years!! Believe me, if it were not for my wife and I really liking the wood burning experience (were not planning on burning for primary heat) I may have steered clear of one. Luckily, I also found this site that has provided a wealth of information.
I started to have a conversation with a friend the other day when he told me I better hope my stove lasts because all the new one are EPA regulated.

He went on rambling about all new stoves have catalytic converters in them, blah, blah, and two other people were listening and agreeing with him. I just told them that they'd all benefit from doing some research on their own.
Wow....Amazing that I guy that heats his house with two stoves has no clue that both his stoves (which he loves) are of the evil EPA regulated generation. Ignorance is bliss.

THE biggest reason i spend time in this and other forums and constantly direct folks to them is to backstop what i try to explain to folks all the time. in hopes that their peers in the woodburning community can by sheer force of numbers assist me into beating it into the heads of folks that you cannot burn wood which still has green leaves on it in a modern appliance (and you sholdnt be in the old tech stoves either).
simple physics of combustion, more water less energy release whether it be a woodstove or anything else dont believe me go pour a gallon of water in your cars gas tank and see what that does for your horsepower. water dont burn!
as for the OP's video, i watched it a while back, steamed me pretty good back then, i kinda chuckle at it now. some people you just wont convince they are wrong. i could bring that stove to my lab connect to a dilution tunnel and burn proper wood in it right in front of him and he'd still not believe it was his fault.
