I'm attaching a picture of a buddy's stove. Can someone give me an Idea how to operate it. I have no clue. I'm new to the wood burning world and my stove is completely different. Thanks.

I don't know how to work it but I hope y'all get it figured out. That looks to me like a big, bad-ass wood stove.
 
Does look like a Brunco Hearthglow which is a coal insert. You might want to visit the coal forums at: www.nepacrossroads.com and ask about it there.

Yes there are some, but they generally work better with one fuel or the other.
