Need to sweep?

Hi guys, I had my stove fitted this February and had a fair few fires through Feb and March. Tailed off in April as it wasn't that cold.

Do you think I need to get my stove pipe and chimney swept before I start burning again in the next month or so?

I burnt kiln dried hard wood most of the time, a few fires with eco coal and literally a few pieces of softwood (a couple of arm fulls).

Also before the first fire should I burn some firelighters ir something on their own for a few mins to warm the flu?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

I would have it swept. New burners or with new stoves need to get an idea of how fast stuff accumulates. And also it is always better to head into a full burning season with a clean pipe. Problems have the darnedest way of cropping up in the middle of Winter when you can't get on the roof for whatever reason. In you guys' case, those nasty winds that crop up.

My first year, I clogged my chimney in 5 months (we will not discuss my what I thought was seasoned " 1st years supply ).

I had a sweep come in right after an ice storm. The yard & roof were a sheet of ice. It was an expensive lesson, to say the least.

Best to clean it, and have no doubt as to the shape it's in before the season starts.
