First time poster. Bought our home in April, it was built in 1987 mostly renovated.

Started the fireplace for the first time today ( it was wett certified with our inspection). The blower or fan is a light switch beside the fireplace. I can hear it turn on but I don’t feel any air being pushed out the top. It was my understanding air would be drawn in the sides, heated then pushed out the top? The blow is just to the left behind one of the grates, I can see one hose coming from, goes around to the back of the fireplace. Debating on taking it apart myself, or calling someone. Then I though to myself is it possible the fan of blowers just adds air to the fire? Don’t wanna start a project or call someone if it’s not broken. Thanks for your help.

I attached two photos, it is an empress fireplace, unknown year.
